Go mbeannaí Dia dhuit, a phaidir gheal!
Go mbeannaí Dia is Muire dhuit!
Cér chodlaigh tú aréir?
Mar chodlaigh Mac Dé.
Cé gcodlóidh tú anocht?
Mar chodlaíos na boicht.
Cé gcodlóidh tú san oíche amáireach?
Ar leaba Phádraic.
Céard sin romhat?
Tá na haingil.
Céard sin ' do dhiaidh?
Tá na heaspail.
Céard sin ar do láimh dheas?
Trí bhraon dhon uisce an Domhnaigh
A chuir Muire Mór liom
Ag déanamh eolais
Ó dhoras go doras.
Doras Phádraic atá mé a iarraidh,
Bríd agus a brat,
Muire agus a mac,
Mícheál is a dhá sciath,
Dia agus a neart.
Siod í siar an (ghrian),
A dhá láimh thairsti aniar,
Fáinne óir ar gach aon mhéir (léithi)
(Os comhair) na seacht ríochta,
Ag éisteacht le clog binn binn
Dhá bhualadh faoi chónra chláir.
Agus (níl aon ní ann) a déarfadh é
In (aghaidh) gach tráth,
Níor bhaol dó féin a ghoil go hifreann go brách.
Agus áiméan, áiméan, áiméan, áiméan, áiméan.

Other versions of this prayer, 'The Bright Prayer', appear in Douglas Hyde, Abhráin diadha chúige Connacht (2 vols, London, 1906), vol. 1, 362-71; Seósamh Ó Flannagáin, 'Sean-phaidreacha ó Árainn', Béaloideas 7 (1937), 185-90: 189; Séamus Ó Duilearga, 'Sean-phaidreacha ó Iorrus', Béaloideas 12 (1942), 201-3; and Diarmuid Ó Laoghaire, Ár bpaidreacha dúchais (Dublin, 1975), 220. An edition of 'Bright Prayer' appears in Seán Ó Tuama and Thomas Kinsella, An duanaire 1600-1900: poems of the dispossed (Dublin, 1981), 354-5, where it is noted that it resembles the Middle English prayer 'The White Pater Noster'.
