Transcript

'S nach deacair a rá nach (fuar í) is nach cráití é an bás,
'S nach (dtiúrfadh an leabhar ná nóiméad le fáil),
'S nach fiú agus (...) nó an (fulaingeoidh) nuair a bheas sí síntí os cionn cláir
Ach go bhfóireoidh Mac Muire ar ár n-anam más créatúir muid a cuirfíor[1] le fán.

Fágaimse le huacht is le aithrí dhá mbeinnse in mo shagart san áit
Nach (gcuirfí ann) aon bhreithiúnas aithrí ar aon fhear ar Bhaile ' Chláir,
Mar tá siad ag diúltú dhon pheacadh 's ag leanúint na rialachaí is fearr,
Is an fhad, ó, go (...) ar an gcathaoir beifear gairid sna flaithis le fáil.

Translation

It is not hard to say that death is a cold and tormenting thing,
And (...),
And it is not worth (...) when she is laid out
But may The Son of God help our souls if we are creatures who will be sent adrift (?).

I solemnly declare that if I were a priest in the place
That no sacramental penance would be given to any man in Ballyclare
For they reject sin and follow the best rules,
And so long as (...) on the chair they will be soon found in heaven (?).
