Aidím[1] dhuitse, a Dhia Móire[2],
Dho NaomhMuire atá (ariamh 'na hÓighe),
Naomh Mícheál Ardaingeal, Naomh Peadar agus Pól
Agus naomhpátrún Pádraig agus gach aon naomh eile
Gur peacach bocht mé ' pheacaigh go trom trom
Le droch-smaointí[3], drochghníomharthaí agus le cion faillí,
Ach anois, ar an ábhar sin, tá mé ag iarraidh maithiúnas ar an Athair Síoraí,
Agus ortsa m'athair faoistin',
Ó uair mo bhaistidh go huair mo bháis.

Translation

I confess to you, almighty God,
To Holy Mary ever Virgin,
To Saint Michael the Archangel, Saints Peter and Paul,
And our patron saint Patrick and every other saint,
That I am a poor sinner who has greatly sinned
Through evil thoughts, evil deeds and sins of omission,
But now, for that reason, I seek forgiveness of the Eternal Father,
And of you my father confessor,
From the time of my baptism until the hour of my death.
